5 Ways To Get Rid of Oily Skin
We all know someone who walks around looking like a grease pot most of their day, and many times that someone is actually us! Oily skin is most certainly a gift and a curse, I mean sure all this extra slip will keep my skin looking young and healthy well into my golden years but looking like a deep fried glazed donut literally does nothing for my social status at this point. Which is why I came up with a list of 5 ways that have personally helped me to combat my oily skin and reclaim my over sized pores once and for all.
1. Keep skin moisturized
I meet so many women who battle it out with oily skin that tell me they don’t use moisturizer because, what for, isn’t too much moisture on my face the whole problem anyway!? The answer is NO! The solution to your skin issues will never be to stop mosituring, that is a critical part of any skin care routine no matter what type of skin you may have. Even though our skin is overly producing oil, sucking all of the oil that is currently there, out, just make matters worse. Often times oily skin can be a sign of dehydration, and not moisturizing or using oil products that have acne fighting ingredients can further dry out the skin. Using a moisturizer that is non comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores or cause break outs is definitely a must!

2. Exfoliation to remove dead skin
Before we go there, please, put the aporcot scrub down! Now that I’ve saved your life, let’s move on. Exfoliating is such a huge step in any oily Girls skin care routine. Exfoliating helps to sluff off any dead skin cells and reveal the new, healthy skin underneath. Oily skin builds up so much sebum (oil) under the surface which causes pores to become clogged with dead skin cells and often times leads to break outs. Removing those dead skin cells and excess oil will help skin to renew itself properly and cut down on all the backed up oil just sitting in our pores.

3. Hyaluronic Acid for added hydration
Hyaluronic Acid is something that our body already naturally produces, and is a natural humectant, so it grabs onto moisture in the skin and locks it to add extra hydration! This ingredient is used in to many makeup and skin care products today, adding a serum with HA to your night time routine will help to ultra hydrate as well as keep skin looking younger, and more plump.

4. Drink plenty of water
We should all know that drinking water is always an important part of whatever skin tone, typed color or texture we have! Our skin is the largest organ on our body as is used as a barrier for protection from outside forces, not to mention we are mostly made of water, so it makes sense that drinking tons of it will have positive affects. Proper amounts of water can help to regulate how much oil our skin produces, drinking 64-80oz of water a date will effectively hydrate the body inside and out. So get a cup and drink up! (That rhymed and I’m really proud of myself haha)
5. Weekly face masks
Doing a Face mask at least once a week is more than just a Pinterest example of self care, they actually help to remove the bad and add in some good. Clay masks are ideal for oily skin, they will help to remove excess oil and dirt from the surface of the skin which could potentially clog pores. Besides removing excess oil, when skin is clear of debris it doesn’t have to stretch itself to make room for sweat or makeup which means visibly smaller pores. Large pores are seen more so in people with oily skin because they are actively trying to make room to accommodate the oil. Masks are a dream come true for skin health!
