Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream

A skincare routine without moisturizer simply isn’t a routine worth having at all. For me, as a consistently oily skinned person, finding the right moisturizer can be a bit daunting. If it’s too heavy I walk round looking like a grease ball and if it’s too light my skin goes into a dehydrated rage. The point here is, it’s imperative to the health and look of my skin that I get it right.

Youth To The People recently reformulated one of their classic moisturizing products, the Super Food Air-Whip Moisture Cream. This new formula claims to be 6x more hydrating, improves barrier strength in just 1 hour, regulates sebum production, targets a broader range of skin types and still contains the brands patented blend of superfood extracts to fight visible signs of aging. Sounds like a miracle in a jar, right?

Well I was able to incorporate the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream into my morning skincare routine for the better part of the warmest summer months and I noticed a few things.

After a few days of using the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream the first thing I was able to take note of was the balanced look and almost semi matte finish that my skin had. This particular formula has Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin, both fall under the Humectant category— water grabbing ingredients— that help maintain healthy moisture levels in skin. In the first week of use I didn’t necessarily feel my skin had been transformed but it was certainly more balanced, which speaks to the claims of increased hydration. Moisturizers are meant to help support the function of skins outermost layer, this also helps prevent things like trans epidermal water loss. Oily skin is more prone to dehydration by way of water loss and because my skin is no exception, I was pleasantly surprised with this result.

I made sure to utilize the Superfood moisturizer on days where I was using more advanced exfoliation treatments as well as when my skin was experiencing active breakouts due to hormones, specifically looking to see if it provided any calm or comfort while my skin was in an inflamed state. During that time I did notice a considerable difference in the look and feel of my inflammation, which I believe has a good deal to do with the anti inflammatory properties of green tea used in the Air-Whip formulation.

This lightweight moisturizer played very well with my barrier repair serums and occlusives used at night. I also tried it under makeup, while I do normally experience increased shine when I wear concealer or foundation for long periods of time, this product didn’t add to that shine. If anything the additional hydration added to a more balanced look throughout the day which I surely appreciated.

Overall my experience was a 7 out of 10 if I had to rank it. Moisturizers are not the most exciting part of my skincare routine so I typically don’t expect it to do more than support the top layers of skin in doing its job more effectively. After a few months use I can confidently say the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream passes that vibe check!
